Installation

---------------------

CD Version

Place the CD in your computer. The CD should self-start. If not, go to the Start button, click "Run...", and then type "D:\setup.exe", where D is the name of your CD drive (the letter may vary). You may also go to "My Computer", open the CD drive, and double-click "setup.exe".

Download Version

Download the appropriate file from http://www.pocketinformatics.com and double-click on the downloaded file.

We suggest that you keep duplicate paper records until the system is fully installed and tested.

If you are printing notes and procedures, we suggest that you keep printing current to minimize loss of data in the event that your Handheld is lost or malfunctions for any reason.

These Memos may be printed from the Handheld to an Infrared or Bluetooth printer using third-party software, such as PalmPrint or PrintBoy. The Memos may also be printed from the PC after a HotSync using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express or the Palm Desktop.

HANDHELD APPLICATION

- Added password preference. The password provides additional protection of privacy of patient information and is an important element for HIPAA compliance.

- Added backup preference. This provides automatic backup and restore for the Office version in addition to the backup provided with the Desktop program.

- Added "Info" button throughout the program, providing a seamless link to any database on your Handheld from Lexi-Comp, including Lexi-Drugs, Lexi-Infectious Diseases and Griffith's 5-Minute Clinical Consult.

- Added ability to return to the previous form when reopening PocketPractitioner.

- Added Sort functions to List menus and removed the Sort button from Lists.

- Added Show function to Diagnosis and Procedure List menus, giving the option of showing either Categories or Codes in the List.

- Added support for Palm OS 5.0.

- Added a menu item for Diagnoses and Procedures to Clear the Notes Field. See next item.

- Fixed error in Professional and Office version. If you had selected Menu -> Options -> Preferences -> Add ICD-9-CM codes -> "Add All Diagnoses", you may find that the Notes field contains incorrect information. This now functions correctly. We added a menu item for Diagnoses and Procedures to Clear Notes Field, and You may use the Diagnosis List menu item listed above to clear this field if needed.

- Changed name of (*) indicator on Patient Edit and Patient Procedure fields to "Complete".

- Deleted the "Complications" indicator on Patient Procedure field.

- Deleted the "Clear Labels" preference option.

- Improved restore option. If you install a fresh Handheld application and then HotSync to the Desktop, your data is restored to the Handheld. Previously the current data was moved to the archive tables. This makes it very easy to upgrade your Handheld.
